These paintings reflect my lifelong fascination with organic forms. I have attempted to bring out the glowing sculptural presence of organic forms through the interplay of line, tone and colour,
It is perhaps helpful to add that my paintings are inspired by the work of Paul Nash, Graham Sutherland, Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth.

I was fascinated by the tactile appeal of this fungus. It represents a vibrant cluster form, full of life and energy. It has grown a half-circle which is a long way from encircling the whole log. Microcosm suggests macrocosm. The encircling movement suggests the cycle of the seasons and the great wheel of nature.
Together they suggest the wings of birds, poised to take flight.

This painting celebrates the generative power of nature. The flower seems familiar and yet strange. It resembles a flower and yet it is different, something rare, possibly unique. I have seen this fungus only once. Luckily, I was able to record it. These fungi last several months if you water them.
The leaves suggest a trampled arch. We are witnessing a dramatic creative moment as the log surges forward confronting us with an unexpected, surprising life form, a flower arising out of dead wood.
